I never worm my dogs unless I see evidence I need to. I dont see why I should pump them full of chemicals to kill something which isnt there.

I do puppies though of course, up to 1yr.

Every six months with Drontal Plus because too many loose and/or stray dogs wander about everywhere, including my front yard.

Around every 6 months here - that's about how often Bella goes into boarding. Oh and Drontal.

Have to say that re whether it does any harm to do it more often - I've sometimes read that it does but ...

If, like me, you sometimes travel abroad with your dog - the INSIST on the worming 24 to 72 hours before travel even if they are coming back in a week? Same thing applies to the Frontline or whatever flea and tick treatment.

So for a one week trip that's two doses in 7 days. I brought this up with a (UK) vet last year but he just gave me the lecture about the damage worms can do to humans etc. I think he missed my point. He did not miss the opportunity to charge me around £70 to drip the Frontline on and give her one Drontal pill.

A natural solution is pumpkin seed oil. It has been used to De worm and support kidney and bladder health.
This is where i get mine. Really affordable, and gives all kinds of other benefits. Rather than taxing the fragile systems with toxics. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=321069143473
We add a little Diatemaceous earth with the food and put a drizzle of oil over it. The Oil is high in Tryptophan which causes the worms to let go of the stomach and intestinal walls.

I only worm mine with strongid if I see evidence of worms. Also, they have no contact with other dogs or I would worm them more often. They go out in their own yard which is not accesable to other animals.

I use the Advocate drops on my two which protects against worms, fleas and lung worm. I treat my dogs every 4-5 weeks especially as one is a dreadful scavenger and eats anything he can
