Best way to get a dog to lose weight?

Alfie isn't/hasn't ever been overweight, but I would prefer him to lose maybe 0.5kg.

He is 9kg just now and a good shape, but I just feel that I would prefer him a little lighter.

Last year at his annual checkup at the vets he was 9.3kg, this year (June), he is 9.1kg... and now he is still around 9kg!

He was changed onto Chappie dried food, he gets less food and more exercise (I myself have lost about 2 stone since the start of the year so both of us have been upped with our exercise), and yet his weight stays the same!

I am aware that parents give him biscuits/treats... but I have got mum to give him just a small bit of chicken or some biscuits saved back from his tea. Dad still gives him a bit of "people" biscuit, but that won't be changing as no matter what I say, he does his own thing

They don't give him a lot though, not enough to stop him losing weight given all the other changes!

Any ideas?

He's fine. Don't worry. If it is that hard, it probably isn't needed!

Watch/reduce the carbohydrates the calculation is=
start with 100%-protein-fibre-ash-oil/fat-mositure= carbohyrdates

The less carbs your dog gets the better, same as a moment on the lips-a life on the hips

I was finding it hard to shift a few lb from Kiki recently - she's always yoyoed a bit because she's been hard to keep weight on, but if she went over the ideal weight it was easy to get it off again too, up until this year. Since starting Soloxine for her thyroid problems, she has lost the extra few lbs and is toning up nicely again now so I'm assuming it was the thyroid issues making the weight hard to lose. Just something to consider.

Years ago, i used to give my old spaniel green beans to help lose weight. My understanding was that they don't have much calorific value, but good to bulk the food out.
