I don't see why not providing they don't have too many added preservatives.

We have chicken franfurters here and they're a firm favourite. I cut them up into bite size pieces and put them on top of the evening meal .... always the first thing that's eaten!

I would not feed them as usually they are made from Soya, which is a thyroid inhibitor, soya is also a prime trigger of GAS GAS GAS!

Sounds like an oxymoron to me-like the "vegetarian haggis" I saw in Waitrose!

Actually vegetarian haggis is quite nice Tastes to me just like stuffing.

Vegetarian frankfurters are also very nice in my opinion.

Whether they are ok for dogs I would say depends on the quantity. If it was a few left overs from dinner then yes I would give them to the dogs.

I wouldn't buy them purposely for the dogs though.

Just for the record, I wouldn't give dogs any Quorn products either. It is made from a type of fungus (they once promoted it as "a relative of the mushroom") and dogs don't tolerate mushrooms well. Added to that, it has a high sugar content, enough to make it unsuitable for diabetics, but for me the clincher was that before being released on the market it was extensively tested on animals, the LD50 test I believe. I am conscious and open minded on testing, although uncomfortable about it, but I draw the line on foodstuffs being tested when there is a wealth of natural foods out there which we already know are pure and safe.

I did not buy them but was given a 5kg bag which is rather a lot of veggie franks and will last me for ages, so I just wondered whether I could give Pereg the occasional one chopped and mixed with some of her meat. I had not planned on giving them as a complete meal!

She is fine with vegetables but I cannot remember ever giving her any soya product.

They are actually quite tasty - there is just such a lot of them...

Unlike us, dogs cannot digest soy protein, so it's pretty much useless to them. There does, however, seem to be some correlation in dogs who have seizure disorders with fits and soya or corn (another thing they can't really handle). It probably won't cause the condition (I don't know; my vet said probably not), but it can exacerbate it. It's best not to include that stuff in their diet, much though they would really love to chow down on that delicious tofu pup right now. Good news: that stuff freezes really well!

You can give dogs beans, though! Mine love them. I only give them one by one as treats to avoid the Fartpocalypse.
