Just meat?

Right, our supplier of the food we were feeding has switched to something else which I'm not happy with. We used to feed tripe (green and minced), and the dogs did really well on it.

This change, beyond our control, has got me thinking and wondering if it is cheaper to go back to tripe. We used to feed tripe in the morning and complete in the evening. However, wondering if we can switch to fully raw.

It needs to be cheap, and fairly easy to do (I have enough to do lol). I have looked back at old threads and have seen some feeding purely meat/tripe. Do you add anything else to this?

I don't want big bones as we have dogs sharing kennels and I don't want fighting. I have fed them chicken wings before and they are fine with that as they don't take ages eating them so that is an option.

I am sure this question has been asked before but I am a bit confused.

Can they manage on just meat without the veg?

Do you mean just muscle meat? They do need organ meat in their diet too. You can get round not feeding bones by feeding alternative things but generally, I wouldnt recommend a raw diet based purely on meat alone.

I was thinking along the lines of minced tripe in the morning and then chicken wings/carcass in the evening, with the odd whole rabbit chucked in. It's the vegies I am wanting to know if they are necessary?

sooo, would tripe and carcass/wings/rabbit be sufficient? or would they need offal as well?

I am really appreciating your help.

Sounds like it to me.

Mine get an array of minces, some just meat, some with offal in, carcasses and a whole rabbit too.. I give them bones when I need them to be quiet, like when I'm tidying.. You would get some offal in a rabbit, like the liver and kidneys.. but you may want to give them the odd bit of liver and kidney every other week.

Thanks Will start trying to source it. We did used to get it from Albion Meats but that was when all the keepers were feeding it and we put in a really big order.
