Games you loved

On the back of the ZX thread, what old video games did you think were just the best gaming would ever have to offer ?.

Ghoul's and Ghosts
R Type
are two that stick in my mind from pretty early on.
my memory seems to be a bit blank after that , apart from Sonic but that was a bit later.

I used to love Sabateur but can't get it to work on the ZX page but will perservere lol.

I do remember playing something about a paperboy but not sure which computer that was on - had to scateboard down a road and throw newspapers lol. I also like lemmings as well but I'm not sure if that was a bit later.

Off to have a google!

The original Civ... I hold this as directly responsible for me dropping a class on my degree when it found its way onto my PC... essay or obliterate the Roman civilisation... tough call.

Lemmings - as mentioned -my mother got hopelessly, utterly hooked on that.

Two I'd really love to see re-made... 7th Guest and the sequel 11th Hour - I think they'd port really well and mix in with the Layton-type puzzle game genre on something like the DS.

Some of the very early Final Fantasys (series celebrates its 25th anniversary this year) - just for the sheer depth of story and of course music in them - went to the Distant Worlds concert at the Albert Hall when it was on and Uematsu's music is just sheer genius. Hell, most of the series with the exception of 12 and X-2 really!

Ah, James Pond, that was good.

Just remembered Earthworm Jim, brilliant game, although still quite modern.

Another modern oldie, but one that didn't seem to get a lot of attention...Voodoo Vince, hysterical .

Oooo, Shadow Man, that was pretty scary at the time, and Quake, not the very very first one, that was pretty lame, the re-make one.
