Ruffwear harness size help please!

Decided to bite the bullet and spend £50 on the Web Master harness for Reg but am having a little trouble deciding which size to go for.
XXS is 12 - 19 inches girth
XS is 17 - 24 inches girth
Reg measures 19" at his widest point so I'm stumped, obvious choice would be XS but I have read that the straps can work loose and it needs to be a snug fit, on the other hand he'd just about fit into the XXS but they'd be no room for a little winter weight gain!

Help would be much appreciated

Can you find somewhere to try them on? Alot of 'outdoor' type shops stock ruffwear stuff

The sizing is quite generous, Kiki's could probably do with being able to go an inch or two tighter than they do. Though if you're handy with a needle (or know someone who is) you would at least have the option to sew the straps shorter in the XS.
There are a few shops that actually stock it so maybe see if there's a local one that you could visit to try it on?

It might be worth looking for/asking a supplier/Ruffwear for the length of the body piece though. Casper and Kiki have the same size but the harness is a lot longer on Kiki than Casper.
Strap goes just behind Casper's ribcage here


Whereas Kiki's is right down around the belly


Might be worth considering where the belly strap will fall for a male dog, so it doesn't end up getting weed on!

Hmmm, good point, however Reg is weirdly long for his size, OH is convinced he's some kind of freaky lab experiment involving a fox/stoat/meerkat, when he sits down he can't tuck his bum under and it kind of sticks out at the back...lord only knows what kind of weird mating created such an odd little dog

He's also higher and wider at the back, then ends with this funny little ratty tail...only a mother could love him lol
