Chicks!

Our clever little Maran hen has hatched four chicks Aren't they cute

Ben is very taken with the yellow one, but won't entertain the others at all (Please forgive Ben's dirty jumper, but he and his dad had been making an apple crumble and he gets flour EVERYWHERE )

Thanks both, they are very sweet.

They will be crosses Iso, as our cockerel is a Welsummer. She did hatch her own and also a rhode island red egg too (so that will be the yellow one?).

Welsummers and Marans are dark or stripey chicks.... I'm not sure whether rhodies are that yellow or not? I always thought they were more sandy.... oh well.... it doesn't really make a difference, does it - they are all cute!

Awww, gorgeous!

We have a Maran x too - we call her Attila! We have 5 other hens too - we love them to bits.
