A meet up - with children?

How about a Dogsey mums (and dads!) meet? Living up here in the wilds, Ben (who is now 19 months) doesn't get to see many other small children and I thought it would be nice if he could meet some other youngish children (for socialisation purposes ).

So, who is interested?

Sorry, my step daughters are a wee bit old now at 17 and 18

Isn't there a nursery/play school within reasonable distance?

Babe, I would love to meet up with you, your family and other Dogsey families but where you are way up there in the Wilderness and I am down South it would be hard to get there . . . also with your Ben being 19mths and my two boys being 26 and 24 years old I don't think they would be talking about the same things . . . lol x x x x x x x x

btw . . I hope you get your meet up.

Yeah, your step daughters might not get much out of it

He will be starting nursery in a year, but not sure where to find out about play school type places.

I would also rather not commit to doing something x amount of times a week, but just as and when.

Find out what village halls are within your area then have a drive round one day and see what notices are on the door. Our village hall has a parent and toddler morning - not sure how regularly they hold it (having never needed it!) but I'm sure its just a 'come when you want' kind of thing.

There may be something similar in one or more of the villages round your way.

Hello

Me and Luca will meet you whenever you like - although Luca is going through THUG phase which involves him pushing people around and being told off ALOT !!!

Kirsty, I also run a Mums meetup for Edinburgh West- I know it doesnt cover your area, but its just a group of mums doing events a few times a month, we recently had a meet up picnic in the park. Quite often go to Almond Valley Farm park ( busmans holiday for you and ben though !! ) and we also go swimming, botanics etc. You are absolutely welcome to come and join us, if you pm me your email address and i will add you to our mailing list and you get an email everytime there is a meet on - we also have a FB page too.

Me and Luca love just going for a wander in the woods, down at the river etc so would be happy to meet you at somewhere like Flotterstone inn or similar and have a coffee, a wander and let the kids play ..

anyway let me know

dani

The oher thing you could look out for is the National Childbirth Trust group. I know in most areas they run a parent network and meet for coffees and have fab second hand clothes sales!

Don't be put off by the pregnancy childbirth bit.I discovered them as a group when I had my first child. I joined them and made some great friends. we went to a different persons house each week and the kids really loved meeting up to play!

Here is the link for your local group. they seem to be very active is socialising on drop in basis.

I think there is something once a month in Longformacus village hall, but will definitely have a drive around the other villages and speak to some of the other mums.

That would all be brill, thanks Dani. I will PM you my email address. I don't find mixing with other mums that easy, as I don't think I am a particularly natural mother who likes chatting about children I am much better with doggy people
