Hello -intro

Hello all,

I've signed on to this site as we brought home an 8 week springador puppy (accidental litter) at the weekend and although we've been considering and planning getting a dog for ages I don't think anything can really prepare you for the real thing when it's your first time (my other half had springers growing up but always rescues- never a pup)......

I am absolutely in love and trying my best to do everything right, reading the books, asking the vet, looking up advice on the net, crate training etc but I think am worrying too much about everything didn't realise having a puppy would make me so uptight!

Anyway if anyone else has been through that "what have I done" moment and come through the other side, let me know!

He had all his jabs yesterday and the vet was very happy with him so that put my mind at ease but he's just started to leap out of the back door when I go to let him into the garden- i usually lift him down the step (which is higher than him) as he initially wasn't willing to go on his own and I was worried that it might damage his growing limbs- do you think I should let him do this or is it best to help him down until he's a bit bigger?

Might sound stupid but go easy its my first time!

Cheers,

Tan

I would post your question also in the training and behaviour section - more people will see it there. In the meantime......
