Worried about our puppy who just wants to cuddle and sleep

Hi everyone,
I have just joined Dogsey, having got an 8 week old Jack Russell puppy last week. We give her lots of attention, but to be honest we're a little bit concerned because she doesn't seem to do much, and more importantly, she seems to be eating less and less. All she seems to want to do is cuddle and sleep, with very little play. Is this normal? Are we fussing unnecessarily?
Thanks for any advice.

I certainly can't call myself an expert being a new puppy owner myself, but have you had a vet take a look at her yet?

Kibo did sleep a lot when we first brought him home at 8 weeks, but when he was awake he was into everything including his food.

Hope someone else can give you more insight than me, but if she hasn't had a vet look at her than maybe that would be a very good idea?

If she isn't eating I would take her to the vet

Welcome to Dogsey.

Puppies sleep a lot but they also usually have spurts of energy too.

Some puppies can seem to go off their food a little when they first arrive home, but if she is eating less and less and becoming listless/lethargic I would take her to the vet for a check up. You cannot be too careful.

Sounds a bit unusual to me too Puppies are usually full of fun, they play and then zonk out, and usually eat very well. I'd be paying the vet a visit if I were you just to check her over. Do you know if the breeder wormed her and when she had her first jabs? Was she like this when you first got her, or has only gone quiet on you since her jab maybe? All the best, and no, this isn't right imo.

Id also be checking if she has been wormed up to date as having them can affect their appetite. I'd pop to the vets to be on the safe side because they can go down hill quickly if something is wrong.

How long have you had her?

What are you feeding, how much and how often?

What are her motions like?

Vets are your biggest friend with a young pup and always worth checking with them. Often they will advise over the 'phone and without charge whether or not you need to take them in to see them and if not, what to expect and what to do to help

I think a visit to the vet is probbably in order too.

Dillon is ten weeks now and into everything when he isn't sleeping. which he does a lot of but when awake is a bit of a terror and was within days of coming home at just turned 7 weeks.
