Gelert's birthday

Gelert, our beautiful chocolate dobie dog, is twelve today
We didn't think we would be lucky enough to have her this long after she had the horrible spinal op 3 years ago. She was in such a state after that but happily improved a great deal with lots of tlc and physio, although she never returned to her former fabulous self.
She has gone backwards rather a lot this last six months and does tend to fall over a lot now. The swelling along her spine had to go down before the op and unfortunately this caused nerve damage to her back legs. She does still seem to enjoy life at the mo, she brings her ball for games...all played laying down now, so we are just keeping her safe and happy and pain free, but she does seem to be getting fed up of suddenly finding herself keeling over. We will keep our fingers crossed that its the cold and damp that is affecting her. If it was love that kept her going, she would live forever.

Thank you everyone for your lovely messages. It's been wamer up here today and Gels has been a lot better, although she still keels over a lot. Fingers crossed for an early summer.
