Can anyone recommend a good "dog hair eating" vacuum cleaner please?

Mine has just died. The hose has completely split and as its quite an old one, which my dad gave me, and which doesn't appear to have a name on it, I don't think ill be able to get a replacement. So, a new vacuum it is, and I'd really like one that will make easy work of those doggy hairs. Any recommendations? Thanks.

I have a Vax Mach Air, three cats and one dog and it does the job superbly , plus it comes with a 6 year guarantee.

The Dyson Animal is specifically designed with pet owners in mind, so that is worth looking at.

We have the Dyson Ball and find it very good for pet hair.

I have the Meile 'Cat & Dog' and it is fantastic. I've had it 4 years and it's still working like new. My neighbour who has 11 dogs has one and she recommended it.

I did a thread on this very recently, a lot of people recommended the Miele, but in the end I went with a VAX pet and animal and I have to say I love it

A Henry or Hetty if you want a pink one. I'd never have anything else but a Numatic vacuum cleaner. I have two (one upstairs, one down). My Henry is about 15 years old and has never had anything go wrong with him. They last years, the suction is great and mine have survived several dogs. They don't have a beater head, but for me that's an advantage as all that happens is they get clogged with dog hair if you have a long haired breed. You can get a Henry Hound I think it's called, but I don't know what they're like.

Miele Cat and Dog, I have had mine for many many years, always comes up top of Which? tests in all categories, you cannot beat German machines IMHO.

Much lighter than a Dyson too.

Agreed! Although I gave mine to my daughter, and I have the ball one now.

We also have the dog grooming attachment for it, which is absolutely brilliant for long/rough/thick coated dogs.
