OK, so I'm past my sell-by date and I may well be missing something here, BUT - I thought that the fighting in Afghanistan was part of the U.S. "War on Terror", so I'm a bit puzzled as to why ANY of our blokes are over there, royal or otherwise.

Personally, I don't think there's anything special about the royals, so if the UK is supplying targets, why not let the royals join them?

I think we should set aside a corner of the world, so that when our politicians want to start wars, they can go there to fight themselves.

Our chaps are not "fighting for their country" over there, they're fighting for someone else's, which, in itself is unusual, they're usually used to fight for oil or money to go in some rich pig's trousers.

I agree Snorri !

Why are they there anyway ?

If he's a danger to fellow troops, why let him ?

I personally couldn't care less if he fights or not ?

He's only a human like the rest of us !

Becuase we went it(right or wrongly)so its only right we see it through.

I think he was only a danger to fellow troops if the media blabbed.

I dont care as such, but I do agree with that if he wants to do the job hes trained for he should be given that chance.

He is a royal, so its debatable
This was not picking at your post, just easier to answer.

On TV, I have seen many mothers (understandably) distraught at the loss of a son in combat somewhere.

"Why? why? why?"

Simple. Because they joined the Army. The ads may say that you join the Army to learn a trade, get a career, but that's not why you join the Army. You join to be shot at. Off you go to N. Ireland, Kosovo, Afghanistan, wherever, and someone shoots you. The job description was accurate, so no complaints, please.

So, if P. Harry gets his napper blown off, are we expected to get involved in yet another distasteful bout of national crying?

Hmmm, send them all over, and let's get it over with.
