i know how u feel laura. believe me im fuming! but nothing i say myself will get through to her cos she doesnt think i know anything! It was bad enough when she said they want to start a cat breeding business! Then she says they also want to breed dogs and put them on the same website! im sickened. They dont own a dog at the moment, and their last dog a golden retriver is long gone by many many years. Breeding dogs isnt exactly a quick money fixer!

Lel you can best help by not getting worked up I do try where possible not to let heart rule head and to get the best from any situation. I think the one thing that stunned me to silence was an espisode involving a friend who lives in deepest Wales rescued two dogs from a hippy sanctuary (who rescued them from a knock on the head and a hole in the ground at a puppy farm) .I was so heartbroken when I heard about and saw pick of these dogs from my own breed and could just not grasp how anyone could do this to dogs . I was told by the friend who lives there and has to 'watch her words' I just did not understand or think in the same way as those people, to them dogs are like potatoes or grain, they are a cash crop to be farmed for the highest profit not living feeling dogs and until people appreciate this fact and 'know their enemy and how they think' nothing can change. There have been occasion when I have had to deal with people who have made me physically sick. All the time you have to keep in mind you are doing it for the greater good of the animals/people/children and forget your own feelings. Sorry if that sounds 'preachy' I guess I come across that way at times..old habits die hard
Jenny can I just say I think you have behaved with great maturity, you could easily have told the woman she was stupid but you did the right thing in trying to back up your argument with information, well done you

can you remind her that she COULD like a friend of mine have 4 dead pups born by section costing £600 and then 24hrs later her bitch died.............. that SHOULD be enough to put any one off not health testing and good pre whelp care!!!!!!!!!! it was an infection not treated from stud dog ...would have cost £30 at most to put right ...

Hi Inca Maybe I am wrong but from your post above I am wondering if you misread the previous posts and thought somone or myself gave this person ''good pre whelp care'' when I certainly did not and don't think others would choose to do so. I said " I would tell her that breeding dogs is a very very expensive hobby and that once she has paid hundreds of pounds to acquired a good quality bitch and paid for the health tests appropriate to the breed, she will need to have at least £1000 extra to cover stud fees and vets bills, more if the puppies have health problems. Also if the puppies do have health problems and can't be sold she will have to be prepared to keep them indefinably at considerable cost, also to keep any that are returned by the purchaser. Tell her she must also be prepared to lose every penny anyway as the bitch and or pups could die particularly if she is inexperienced in whelping procedures. Perhaps if a few people make her aware of some of the sad facts of life and horrendious costs that go with breeding, she may think again" I think if Jenny goes back to this person with information on all the possible and the real costs of breeding we may make her think twice about it particularly if she hopes to make money then realises it could cost her thousands

Inca Just wanted to clear up any possible missunderstanding
