I often lure right from the beginning without food---- suppose that isn't really a lure----except it is as it is an empty hand touch sort of!

With some dogs and people you can lure without food, however I tend to base my training on what the majority find useful for them and many of my clients have already used luring with food (wrongly) so I have to spend a great deal of time showing them how to use it correctly.

For some having NO food in the hand is just a step too far (only in their imagination) but if I cater for their beliefs we progress quicker!

I don't have clients so I hadn't thought about that.

Food is still a step too far for some people
