Hi Lacey,

Thanks for that - it's good to know and I'll mention it to vet. Yes, poor little girl is sick & fed up with me messing about with her eyes, but she's so good natured that she doesn't seem to hold it against me.

Know exactly where you're coming from and I really feel for you. Lacey managed to open her scar where she'd had her eye removed recently.Had to have it re stitched,so she had the cone back her for two weeks All better now though.
Vet discovered her ulcer by using a dye he put into her eye, left her eye green for a day,but that's how he seen it Initally.
Really hopeing her ulcer heals..fingers crossed(( hugs))

Oh dear that sounds painful and they hate wearing those cones so much too don't they. Yes, same here with the dye. Her eye is more open though after just one treatment + metacam, so hope she'll get away with it this time, but I'll make sure I get her to vets every time she even slightly squints in case another one forms. Thanks for your good wishes & really appreciate your help.

Good luck rita. And I'm so glad you've got our Lacey here to give you her first hand experience and advice. Always a comfort to speak with someone who knows what you are going through.

Katie has been referred to an eye specialist, due to her ulcers. They've ruled out thyroid trouble and neurological damage (apparently a good indication of this as the cause of dry eye is a perpetual dry nose) and they recommend the saliva op on both eyes, which is booked in for the 30th. They say it's very rare to have to do it on both eyes and it will take up to 4 hours. The specialist said that if it was her dog she wouldn't hesitate to have the op, so all I can do is follow her advice, but I'm really worried about the anaesthetic for such a long op & just hope she gets through it OK. What might be useful to anyone else who has a dog with dry eye is that the specialist said Clinitas Soothe is the best brand of artificial tears by far and is much better and longer lasting than carbomer based tears such as Viscotears, etc.

Thanks Lacey - and the Clinitas is so much easier to apply than tubes. Cheapest place I could find is on Ebay, where a chap does buy 4 boxes, get 1 free. It says use 2 or 3 times a day, but specialist says it's safe to use as often as you like
