Water Additive for Tartar control

Has anyone had much success with Tartar control liquid in the
dogs water , any good brands that work well.

Mums old dog can't have bones anymore, & has lots of Tartar.

I think it might help prevent tartar, but you might need to have a scale first if there is a lot there.
I looked into using one of these products, but noticed that one of the ingredients was xylitol, which we are usually told is a toxicity risk for dogs. As I have a thirsty boy, there would be no way of monitoring the dose, so I decided to stick to the toothbrush.
Interesting question though.

The dogs teeth are very worn from bones over the last 10 years, & vet said bones are not for him anymore

Vet did not seem interested in any water bowl additive

I haven't used either, but there is a granular seaweed product called Plaque Off which seems to get good reports. There is also an oral care spray by a firm called Petz Life which has similar photo evidence and reviews. Not cheap products though.
Have you tried an enzymatic toothpaste like Logic of Virbac CET? Dogs do seem to enjoy the taste of the Virbac one.
