I worm twice yearly. Drontal in Spring, and the lungworm treatment course of Panacur 10% in the Autumn. I do this because I have a scavenging breed, and although I could prepare a slide to show whether worm eggs were in their faeces, I have no way of being sure what is actually living in their gut.
However, If you groom your dogs daily, and know they have no external parasites, why would you need to use any unnecessary chemicals on them? I haven't seen a flea on mine for twenty years.

I agree with regards to external parasites, but I do worm Ben regularly - with Panacur about 5 times a year. Having lost a horse due to a heavy worm burden, I am very alert to the dangers of internal parasites, and we now of course have lungworm to worry about in the UK.

I'm jealous of CarolC and Trouble, fleas are quit the pests in my area so without prevention they are sure to be a problem.
