He looks lovely-beautiful glossy coat. We don't see many Dobes round here either. They were very popular in the 70s but a lot of backyard breeders jumped on the bandwagon and temperaments seemed to suffer but they seem much more sound now. A friend at heelwork to music classes used to foster for Dobe rescue but her husband got bitten once so she promised she wouldn't take any more sadly. Probably came from a bad home or a cruelty case.
We do see a lady with one sometimes on the heath and her other dog is a Yorkie which always strikes me as a strange combination of breeds! The Yorkie is quite feisty though and not the Dobe! Sadly all the Yorkies we meet seem to be feisty! Perhaps it is their diminutive stature that makes them feel threatened by larger dogs? (sorry-I digress).
