Wild Boar On The Menu

Popped out last night, only for a couple of drinks and went to our usual country pub, really nice it is,proper oak beams, nice open fire going,etc...

Anyway I looked at the specials they had on the menu board, and I was suprized to see Wild Boar on there, I immediately thought about dogsey and the discussions of late

Apparently it is a really lovely meat.......
So anyone tried it ?

It's delicious, really full of flavour. I had a steak in a pub once and it was very tough which is because of the way it was cooked. I remember my jaws were still aching the next day. But had it been cooked properly then it would have been superb.

Yup, we have it quite often!

There is a place near the Trough of Bowland that produces it.... they have a sort of farm, where the wild boar have acres of forest, but are taken for their meat as well.

Tis lovely stuff - it makes fab sausages and is lovely when slow cooked

Yep, i've had it!
There is a pub not far from me that serves it as one of their 'normal' dishes - along with kangarooo and a few other 'different' meats!

We have wild boar around here, the forresters have built 'watch towers' where they can see them as night approaches (and shoot them), they do a lot of damage to crops especially sweet corn.

We have also been told that a wild female boar with young will attack and kill dogs and my wife was told to keep ours away from certain areas when they have their young around.
