Barking in crate

Okay, we have had alfie for about 6 weeks now, and up untill a few days ago he was good in his crate!
Didn't try to jump out when you put him in, lay down on his bed and was quiet all the time, but over the last few days he has been barking and jumping up trying to get out when he is put in!
I don't know why.. he has had his tea and been to the toilet so he is fine, he is just barking, and he has started to bark in the mornings aswell.. but I don't know how to stop him

The crate has been used in the same way from when he came here, so I don't know why he has changed!

I just want him to go to bed and lie down and relax until morning!

Argh!

Since he's started barking, do you go straight to him?

Where do you have the crate at night? x

Nope, he ocassionally gets let out if he needs the loo (not often, and its a more frantic bark), other than that he gets ignored.

The crate is in the dining room as it has been for the last 6 weeks.

I would move the crate up here but there isn't much room, and i dont know if it would make things worse, as he can be quite clingy with me as it is

What about a radio on low? x

Tried the radio, not tried an item of my clothing... could do that.
I did try leaving the shoes i wear alll the time next to his crate before, but it was so early on i doubt it would have worked then.
He is quiet now, but will probably start up again at about 6am

I would love to have him up in my room in his crate tbh, but he is clingy really, in that if I leave the room/house he just runs about whining a bit looking for me.. so thinking having him up here might not help that?

He is very young still, I'd have him in your bedroom but have a plan and structure to move him gradually out.

Ahh I see.
How would I do that?

Last night after he went quiet I didn't hear him until about half 6 (no guarantee he wasnt barking and i didnt hear him though), and this morning he hasnt made a single noise since i put him in again.

Same
I don't think he was feeling 100% yesterday, so maybe he hasn't felt right the last couple of days and that is why he was making a fuss...
Let's hope he carries on staying quiet, as he must feel better for it!!
.. and it means I can actually get some sleep
