Hello, and thank you.

Every wednesday, after dog training, while we are packing up Tonks and Rannoch play. They greet each other like long lost friends each week! When Tonks was smaller he used to hold her head in his mouth, sometimes she was pointing into his mouth so all you could see was a neck and a pairs ears sticking out - lucky he is gentle!!

Re: Slovakian Rough Haired Pointer

Eska - mishka is just lovely. So amazing how different they all look from any one litter. I'd love to see other pups from Grey's litter born 19.04.08.

Hi Lou
Hows things going with your lovely pup?We really love them and hope to get one in the next few months..Any problems? Is he turning out to be what you'd hoped? So desperate to have one ,just don't want to make any mistakes.Have you got cats?we have three....have also been considering the wirehaired vizsla. Why did you end up with the slovak? Thanks!

Re: Slovakian Rough Haired Pointer

Hi Toothfairy,

I love Grey very much and he really is lovely. He has had quite a few problems. Read through this thread to catch all of the detail. In short he has had:

Giardia
Campylobacter
Bite fault

Look up the first two on Google for information on how serious these infections are.

All of these health issues have resulted in numerous trips to the vet and likely to continue. He's happy in himself and this is testament to the breed.

I've clicker trained Grey from day one and he's been great. I would definitely advocate this form of training with young pups.

I got a slovak because I wanted a large dog. I had read that they were bred not to roam too far from the handler. I had previously looked into GSPs and these looked to be more challenge.

I would do your research carefully on breeders. There aren't many. If you would like to private message me for more info.

Louise

We're fine over here! Grey has a new harness to save him from choking himself!

We're waiting for our appointment with the canine dental specialist re his bite problem. Other than that we're tickety boo! Happy to report normal poos! Oh how life has changed!

Re: Slovakian Rough Haired Pointer

Hi all

we know all about the slovacs We rescues a young puppy who is now 20 mths now and they are such nice dogs He is house trained and bouncy as he is still only a pup himself

He has grown so much since we had him and it turns out he is full ped and comes from stormdancers . Although we do not have his papers.

We had a nice big house and garden and lots of fields but due to a disabled son we had to move to a special converted bungalow nr to the town center with only a courtyard garden for him now, which is too small for him to play in !!!!
If there is anybody out there with knowledge of the breed and would like to give him a loving home then please contact us as we want him to go someone who can give him all the love and devotion he needs !!!

We ae based in Kent if thats any good to you all

all the best

Tony
