How should I cut Charlie?

As most of you know Charlie is a BC x ESS. This is him:

He looks a little different to that now however, he has about 10x as much hair.

I bathed him today after he rolled in something gross and he now resembles a very small black and white Samoyed.

He has odd hair, it's very wavy all over his back and thighs but his feathers are long, straight and silky. In the past i've shaved him off in the warmer months as he gets really warm in summer with his boufont, but it's not pretty really and I want something a bit more pleasing to the eye than a buzz cut all over.

He's booked into the groomers for next week but any suggestions on what I should ask to have done? Or just leave him in their hands? This is the longest his coat has ever been.

Forgot to add, he's from working parents and is nothing like show, so he'll never have those lush ears or anything, he's got working spaniel ears.

I had to read this out of concern to begin with. You shouldn't 'cut' Charlie at all. Maybe clip his fur. LOL

One thing I would suggest is, I don't think he'd suit the poodle look.

lol! Must be a northern phrase, sorry about that false alarm!

Trust me, anything would be better than he is now.

Doggy Style, right near Ropner Park in Hartburn? Have you got a picture of Dill showing it off so I can have a gander? I want his curls on his back taming and the rug around his neck but I don't want to loose all his lovely feathers really, although his back end and tail is really thick so could do with thinning. It's difficult aswell since he's had the chop to know what to do with is all.

Mmmmmm my pet hate! Cutting dogs hair that isnt meant to be cut. If any cutting MUST be done, Id just trim the paws ears and maybe trim the tail.

It's too much Dawn, since he was neutered it got woolier and thicker in places and he is far too warm in the summer, i'd rather he was comfortable. I don't want it all off, I had more an idea of thinning it out.
