Faster, More Secure and Better Looking Browsers!

I know this isn't really a dog related topic, however, as many dog lovers are not tech lovers, I thought it would be a good idea to let people know there are (FREE!) browsers out there that offer more secure, faster and better internet browsing.

You have two main choices if you are a Windows XP User, Firefox and Opera. Both are free and much faster, more secure and more web standards compliant than IE (or AOL).

Firefox is the most standards compliant browser and is very widely used, whereas Opera has slightly more features. It's probably a good idea to try out both given that they are free and sticking with whichever takes your fancy.

Getting a nice new skin for Firefox

You may want to download a nice 'skin' for Firefox to make it even nicer? Here's a step by step to get one of my personal faves:

Go to:

Tools > Themes > Get More Themes (bottom right)

Then under the list, Top Themes > click on Metal Lion - Brushed iCe > Install Now

When it's downloaded, click on it and then click on > Use theme

Then close ALL open firefox windows and restart it (firefox)

That's it Done!

(to revert the theme go back to your themes box and click on the default one > use theme)

Getting a nice new skin for Opera

You may want to download a nice 'skin' for Opera to make it even nicer? Here's a step by step to get one of my personal faves:

Go to:

Tools > Appearance> Find More Skins

Then under the list, Popular Skins > Scroll down to: Metal Blue > and click on it

When it's downloaded, it will say use this theme? > Just click on yes

That's it Done!

Fantastic - you now have two of the best browsers on the internet :)
