19-07-2010 - 03:34 PM A poorly dogs tail... by Jamie the English SetterHello Aunties and Uncles of Dogsey
After my Mummy told you all about my horrible operations, I thought I would tell you how things were from my 'end' if you get what I mean.. When I was an ickle pup I must have had a bad accident, because when I arrived at my mummy's house I already had a severe kink at the end of my tail... it never bothered me really, I did knock it a few times, but n... 19-07-2010 - 01:45 PM Hello!Hi!
I am new to this forum (and all forums for that matter-) I have an Olde English Bulldogge (that I brought here from America) - She had a sweet batch of 8 pups in June. There doesn't seem to be a following for the breed over here in the UK like there is in America/Canada- Is there anyone here who owns one? We absolutely love ours! [mod edit, see reply below] Thanks!... 11-07-2010 - 09:09 AM My First Few Days by Henry (English Setter)Hello everyone
![]() Mummy said I should let you all know what I've been up to since I arrived here in Buckinghamshire late on Thursday so here goes. It's my first attempt at writing so I hope I do it good I was living in Staffordshire with my breeder and my mummy and daddy and sister and other relati... 09-07-2010 - 11:39 PM Working sheepdog pupsHubby's lovely little working collie bitch, Eve, had a large litter of ten pups two weeks ago, but unfortunately two of the pups died. This may be a (sad) blessing in disguise, as ten is a lot to rear successfully.
They are all doing well and we have a staggering 7 dogs and just 1 bitch. All look nicely marked and will hopefully have the same strong work ethic of the last litter (repeat matin... 09-07-2010 - 06:41 PM Razzle updateHere`s the boy today with his bestest friend Bran.
![]() Since Raz had to have treatment for an abscess I`ve been sitting down with him for 15 minutes or so every day and getting him used to being handled. He lets me brush him (off lead) now, and seems to like his tummy rubbed. And he goes and sits on his bed for a bru... 08-07-2010 - 03:11 PM Helphay i just got a staffy x lab on sat hes a right hand full

Since, our dog has been spitting out white stuff and suddenly grown two heads. We are wondering whether you know any thing similar?
16-06-2010 - 08:38 AM Sika's Gundog Training 5Not updated this for a while. There has been a dip in training due to me being madly busy, sick child and lots of work basically. Have done a bit more in the last few days, still working from The Clicked Retriever. This book is amazing. Sika doesn't do well with pressure and this book teaches you how to teach the dog to retrieve with NO PRESSURE at all! I love it and it's amusing watching her...
08-06-2010 - 07:45 PM Funny photos needed for cartoonsI am co-founder of DrawtheDog, where we post cartoons inspired by photos people send us of their dogs.
This week, we are especially interested in receiving photos of: 1.) Dogs from outside the US 2.) Breeds not yet listed on our site. The crazier the photos, the better. If your dog inspires a cartoon, the cartoon will be shown on our home page and I will send you an email. You can ema... 04-06-2010 - 04:01 PM Nipping and play bitingHouse training your dog / House training tips for a new puppy
When a new puppy arrives in the house, it’s an exciting time for everyone. In order for the homecoming to proceed as smoothly as possible, it’s a good idea to spend a little bit of time in preparation. One of the major challenges of dog ownership (particularly for first-time owners) is the issue of house training. If you equip y... 29-05-2010 - 08:53 AM Quick update on Sika...Before starting training 'retrieve' with the clicker I decided to do a quick 'watch me' training session with the clicker to remind Sika what it's all about as she hasn't seen the clicker for a while. Using a method similar to the methods in the Clicked Retriever book, she figured it out in a matter of minutes. I was DELIGHTED and she enjoyed it too. No pressure is the key for her I think as if...
28-05-2010 - 10:05 AM Sika's Gundog Training 4Had a bit of a break yesterday as I was flat out and exhausted. Spent some time reading The Clicked Retriever (from ClaireandDaisy, thank you!) and found it very interesting. I'm going to go back to basics on this with Sika and try out the methods suggested in this book, I'll be very interested to see how it works with Sika. I'd love to build up her enthusiasm for retrieves and I think this mig...
24-05-2010 - 03:58 PM My Sprollie PupsHi all,

I went down to the field at the bottom of the road and tried to do a bit of heel work (not so bad) and retrieving (bad). Today she wasn't going to pick up the dummy but run out, sniff it and then eat grass beside it. If she did pick it up she dropped it well short of me. Conclusion- I've moved way too fast and need to keep practicing the retriev...
24-05-2010 - 03:09 PM Sika's Gundog Training 2Yesterday we did a few more retrieves which Sika is getting a bit more confident with but with the confidence she is starting to get cocky and has tried to run away a few times with the dummy but always comes back after a bit of a swerve to the side. I want to get her retrieve straight back to me and solid before progressing with this. I have also been practicing the stop whistle by asking her to ...
19-05-2010 - 04:22 PM Sika's Gundog TrainingSika (HWV) is now 8 months old and passed her Bronze level obedience last night (woo hoo!). She doesn't really enjoy obedience training but I have a feeling she will love gundog work. The obedience training has given us a good base to start from.
Today I wanted to see how she would do with retrieving a dummy for me. I threw one out a short distance and she took it back no bother at all and gav... 19-05-2010 - 04:02 PM The Poco Puppies expedition19-05-2010 - 11:30 AM Testers WantedHi all, I have recently started making bridles as I was getting fed up of paying high prices for bridles that didn't fit great, I also couldn't find a collar/harness small enough to fit my new Dali pup that he wouldn't outgrow in a month or so, so decided to make my own.
The bridles/collar/harnesses are made from beta/biothane, I do a lot of hacking and endurance riding on my horses and I have ... 16-05-2010 - 03:59 PM Hunting an Unusual MixHi,
Has anyone heard of, or can anyone tell me where I might find, a bloodhound x german shepherd or bloodhound x german shepherd x labrador? I've come across two, since I started looking, but it seems to be an - understandably - unusual cross, and I would like to find one. ... |
