FOUR friendly giants have been abandoned at a Barrhead kennel after their Northern Irish owners moved to America.

Tubbs, Sweetie, Bart and Rickkie are Alaskan Malamutes who were once part of a 42 strong pack of their breed kept in horrible conditions.

Lacking human interaction, and fighting amongst themselves over scraps of food thrown to them, these gentle giants were eventually rescued after their owners abandoned them.

Now the cuddly dogs, similar to a bigger Huskie, are hunting for a good home, and a loving owner.

Pamela Leroy, of the Alaskan Malamute Rescue , said: “These dogs were rescued from a situation in Ireland that saw them come to us in quite a sorry state.

“They were malnourished and covered in scars and scratched, but they have bsaloutely flourished at the kennels here in Barrhead and have become so much more confident and playful."

“But whoever wants to re-home them will need to be patient with them, they aren’t house trained and they need their confidence building more.”

The four dogs, along with three others who are not from Ireland but have been rescued from otyher situations, are bbeign kept at the Leverndale Kennels on Glasgow Road in Barrhead.
