Crufts puppy is stolen in East Yorkshire house raid

Five dogs, including a Crufts champion worth several thousand pounds, have been stolen during a robbery.

Humberside Police said the five Chihuahuas were taken from the property on Allison Lane, Lissett, near Driffied, East Yorkshire, on Thursday.

Mal Hilton, 65, who owns the dogs, said he was "devastated" by the robbery and feared for the animals' safety.

One of the dogs stolen was Valenchino Chihuahua Xena who was named Best Puppy in Breed at Crufts in March.

I do hope they will be found safe and well.

How horrible to have your dogs stolen from you. I can't imagine that happening to me and the feeling of complete hopelessness.

I wonder if the thieves knew there was a Crufts champion there. Hope they are found soon - whoever ends up with them are bound to boast they are a Crufts champion!

Unfortunately the media is describing the Best in breed puppy as being a valuable Crufts champion-which it isn't the only dogs that are real Crufts Champions are the dogs that win the two Obedience Championships. Whoever took them will now thing the puppy is even more valuable & therefore more likely to be sold on. & probably used for breeding .

I do wish media wouldn't give exaggerated prices for dogs. Just encourages more thefts IMO.

Do hope they are found soon

Amazing that they all stayed together for that length of time (am assuming if that dishevelled they had not been being cared for). First thought I had was 'too hot to handle'?

Anyone else think this sounded a bit strange?

A 30-year-old man was jogging down a track on Friday evening in Culcheth, Warrington when he allegedly came across five abandoned Chihuahuas down a dirt track.

He took them to his home address, as they all looked dishevelled and in need of food and water. Police say a visiting friend informed the man of an appeal on [a social network] following Thursday’s burglary and he contacted the police.
