Some good news for Finn

Some good news at last. We know now the most likely source for the mould. Its from all the mouldy food dropped at the park for the birds and foxes. Alternaria and another two which he is allergic to Cladosporium and Aspergillus all live on mouldy food and debris. This mould is a seasonal mould which explains why his allergies are not so bad at times. It also explains why we thought he had a wheat allergy as it was always after eating bread at the park he would flare up.

So after the vet discussed it with the pathologist it was decided that it would not be fair on Finn to put him through immunotherapy for something that can be avoided just got to be quicker than Finn when it comes to dropped food. We will probably have the occasional flare up which we can treat with low dose steroids. He will also be treated with anti fungal shampoos every so often and evening primrose oil for his skin and immune system.

So now we wait and see how it goes.

I'm glad it wasn't something harder to 'control' Ca. How about muzzling him when he is on walks outdoors? The fabric mesh ones which means he can't even lick things up?

Thanks both. I feel a lot happier tonight knowing what is causing it now.

The muzzle would be ok for walks but not so good for when he is running around offlead. There is only really one park where he can pick up mouldy foods so it will need to be avoided in future.

So glad that there is an easier way around this problem Carole.
Good Luck with keeping him away from all the rubbish If only people would be a little more considerate and pick up their litter
