Final results back today

Well its not dust mite or feathers, it is a type of storage mite and alternaria mould. Results over 150 are positive allergies. Storage mite was 520 and alternaria was 3000+ Storage mites can be found in dry food in the powder at the bottom of the bag. This is easy to cut down by keeping the food in a bag then in a sealed bucket/bin etc. Alternaria is the strange one. It can be found in food and is a yeasty mould. The vet is waiting for the pathologist to phone her to try and narrow it down as to where it is likely to come into contact with the mould. It explains the yeast infections and ear infections over the last year. We are wondering if its the mouldy bread that gets dumped in the parks that could be the cause of it. Sometimes Finn can be a little too quick.

Sarcoptes was negative.

We have an appointment on Monday with the vet to find out if immunotherapy would help.

The good thing is it wasn't dust mites as that could have been pretty nightmarish to resolve I would imagine. The things you've said sound like they are avoidable if immunotherapy doesn't help.
Sorry there are allergies present as sarcoptes would have been easier to deal with, but at least you are on the road to sorting it.

Glad you guys are making progress Ca. I agree with Ramble that hopefully the ones shown up will be more easily avoidable.

Yes what a shame it wasn't sarcoptes Carole like Ailsa said it would have been easier to cure. Hope you can find something that helps.

Well it could have been a lot worse Carole and hope that when the vets do discover the problem that it is something that can be easily cured. Keeping fingers crossed for Finn.
