pano(wandering leg lameness) and lungworm

pano(or wandering lameness)our 8 month old gsd, bonzo, has what to all purposes sounds like pano.he could not walk on his front leg without yelping for 2 weeks, then,no sooner had that got better he got it in his back leg.he was given metcam for the pain, which didnt help,as it messed his guts up,and made him pass blood, like a fountain!the vet didnt even examine him, just said stop metcam,as a known side effect of metcam is internal bleeding, and even death.he has also had a nose bleed that lasted two days, and because of his love of snail and slug munching(dirty boy!)he is being treated for lungworm with advocate-which is for fleas and fox mange as well. regarding pano(wandering leg lameness)i have seen on alot of websites that high protien and calcium foods can make it worse, due to making dog grow too fast, thus causing pain because of bones forming so fast.he is going to be a BIG gsd.his father was huge!!!if anyone can shed any light on my little(ha)boys condition(s) i would be most gratefull,i have had loads of dogs, and never known anything like any of this.it is stressing me out to the max.although he is only 8 months old,he is already an irreplacable part of my family.all the best,...g. p.s. also, does anyone know if it goes through all thier legs,as he has only had it in two so far.

My GSD had a flare-up of Pano once and thankfully it never re-occured. They grow out of it by 18 months I believe. I hope your dog doesn`t have another.

Panosteitis is common in medium to large dogs and very common in GSDs. It is self limiting and will be gone by the time he is 18 month, there is no treatment but if the pain is bad that, the pain, can be treated.
