Upset son...horrendous story

SO don't read if you get upset easy

Ive just had my eldest on the phone all upset about a Police job he had to attend the other night.
A family took on a male Rotti at the age of one (they have had it 3 years) which had been badly abused.
Instead of working with its issues, which are aggression & Dog Aggression, they have kept it mainly in the house/garden, with a 4 ft chain link fence.
It was ther on Thursday and saw a man in his 60's walking two toy yorkies and obviously the rest is history..it
jumped the fence and attacked.

The old guy tried to get his Yorkies away but one was ripped to pieces
When my son got there with other officers the Rotti still had part of the Yorkie in his mouth but was lunging at the old man who by now had thrown his other Yorkie over a wall, in the attempt to get it the Rotti has turned on the old guy and nearly severed his right arm off, the old man now on the floor being dragged around.
The man is in hospital undergoing operations to try and save his arm, one dog dead and the other traumatised.

The poor Rotti has now been seized and will altermately be PTS'd

And all because of stupid owners......who knew what they were taking on off a friend, knew it had been beaten abused and half starved, not socialised and knew it was agressive because of this treatment...............and still didn't work with the issues when they had the chance.
My son has just said it upset everyone with the mess it has made bioth to the tiny Yorkie that never stood a chance and to the old guy that was trying to protect his dog.....and the poor Rotti itself........ ALL the Officers that attended and the Paramedic's all said to the owner.....you could of turned that dog around when you first had it....instead you chose to leave it for another 3 years till it was a bomb waiting to go off.

So sad.
RIP Little Yorkie
Sympathies to her owner and his family
RIP Poor Rotti

What a terrible tragedy and yet again another one that could have been avoided very easily.

I hope the elderly man makes a full recovery, poor guy, he will be deeply traumatized by both the attack on himself and seeing his wee dog torn apart.

It is stories like these involving Rotts that sicken me the most, how many times have we read that the dog involved was a rescue or neglected and I agree... at time bomb waiting to detonate.

That's just awful yet another dog failed by mankind and now two dogs are dead and that poor man so seriously injured. Such a sad story. And if the media get hold of it, ultimately the rottie will be blamed, won't it and not because of it's poor handling and bad start, no it'll be just because it's "a big nasty rottie, and all rotties are killers"

So sad for all involved, I feel particularly for that poor poor man, I hope he recovers quickly and can be reunited with his remaining yorkie.

There are no words to say What a truly horrendous yet so easily avoided story.

My heart goes out to that poor man and his yorkies and to the poor rottie that was put in this awful position by truly despicable owners

Such an awful story - so sorry for everyone involved...well except the owners of the rotti...they are the ones that have led to this all happening.

Jesus, poor guy and poor dogs. No doubt the rottie will be the one blamed rather than the owners who didn't bother to do anything about it's behaviour.

I hope the man and his remaining Yorkie have a speedy recovery. What an awful thing to happen.

Such a sad story, fingers x'd that the man makes a full recovery xx and as everyone else has said those owners definatley shouldnt have had that dog in the first place just think if he had gone to a rottie rescue then none of this would have happened, he could have been placed in the hands of someone who actually cared enough to work on his issues instead of being left tied up and allowing more issues to develop R.I.P mr rottie R.I.P little yorkie

I know your all right, I said to my son, The Rotti IS NOT to blame I agree.
Sadder for everyone the 'owners' are actually blaming the old fellow for picking his toy yorkies up and trying to defend them and blaming the original owners of the Rotti for abusing him.
Think my son said it.....''how would you feel if you were minding your own business, trotting down the road with your beloved dog and someone elses dog just ripped it from you and tore it to shreds in front of your eyes''

Not sure how the old chap is doing, he underwent intensive surgery, I'll let you know if I find out.

yes if the media get hold of it, Im sure the Breed will be once more slated

I feel absolutely sick to my stomach.

I can't believe what those poor dogs and that poor man went through, and it's just sickening that the rottie's owners are not going to be held accountable for what they have allowed this dog to become. I bet that was years of frustration that poor dog was unleashing onto the man and his yorkies

I can only imagine how that poor man must feel having seen his dogs go through that and knowing one of them died in such terror and such a frightening attack.

I'm nearly in tears. It beggars belief. What have people done to that rottie to make it like that????

My sympathy is with the old man, the remaining yorkie and that poor traumatised rottie who is now facing death (if not already dead), all because the humans in his life failed him.
