qualify for crufts - how?

could someone please give me a simple step by step guide on how to qualify for crufts. An odd question? My 7 year old asked me. It's the first question one of my kids asked that I couldn't answer! (my eldest is 14 this year so not a bad record so far). I'd like to 'look like' I know what i'm talking about as she is a perfectionist and will not be fobbed off and of course mummy is the fountain of knowledge - or so she thinks!! (tee hee) I'm too embarrassed to ask anyone at dog club as I feel foolish not knowing!!LOL PLEASE HELP.

Hi - let me find the link to the KC for you which gives you all the details as it is specific to breed - have a read then ask any questions!!!

It is confusing first of all but the only way to find out is asking questions!

To qualify for Crufts you have to win 1st 2nd or 3rd at a Championship show where Challenge Certificates are on offer they can also qualify for Life by gaining places in Limit and Open Classes and thus gaining their stud book number but the qual;ification for this vary from breed to breed depending on which stud book band ther particular breed is on. Hope this helps I am not well up on it so perhaps someone else will come along and correct me if I am wrong.

Trying to keep things simple.
Firstly Champ Shows where CC's are on offerYou can qualify for Crufts by getting

i. First, Second or Third in Minor Puppy Class

ii. First, Second or Third in Puppy Class

iii. First, Second or Third in Junior Class

iv. First, Second or Third in Yearling Class (For Breeds in Stud Book Band E only)

v. First, Second or Third in Post Graduate Class

vi. First, Second or Third in Limit Class

vii. First, Second or Third in Open Class

viii. First, Second or Third in Veteran Class

Now for Premier Open Shows

Premier Open Show
For dogs that have been declared Best of Breed provided there were more than three breed classes (more than five classes for Stud Book Band E breeds) scheduled for the breed

Finally General Open Shows
If it has won Best in Show, Reserve Best in Show or Best Puppy in Show at a General or Group Open Show

Finally you qualify your dog for life for Crufts if you gain your Stud Book Number.
This is gained by either a CC, RCC a JW or getting placed in Open and or Limit, placings vary through Bands.

Hope this helps. Look on the kennel club site here http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/item/1184 and it will list everything.
