Need advice!!!

So here's the skinny. I have a 10 year old Doberman who I got when in college. All he has ever known is sleeping at the end of my bed around my feet. Soon, I'm moving in with my fiancee, and we're wanting to keep the bed "our bed." We have a very large dog bed I'd like to put at the foot of the bed for him to sleep in. I need advice from those that have taught old dogs new tricks so to speak. What were your experiences? What worked and what didn't? Thanks in advance!

Jay

Put something that you have worn a lot without washing it in his bed and encourage him to start using it now.

Your Fiancee should not complain about sleeping in a very large dog bed. He might have to curl up a bit though.

You are, as ever, the master of sound advice. Maybe his favourite toy as well?

Ours has his bed next to ours. He sleeps there at night. We didn't actually teach him to - he just did. My dear wife gets up earlier than I and, when she does, he jumps on to our bed with me.

Maybe Jaredlw will get the same treatment...

Sound advice. Also, you have to be consistent. Each time he comes up onto your bed, move him back to his own. My guess is that you are in for a few restless nights

Click on the star sign, but only the recipient sees it.

That could be a challenge with a big dog.
