A lovely walk

Well today we've been for a lovely walk.

And we mixed with the pack - a group of dog owners about 12/14 of them who walk in the park every Sunday afternoon, they have over 20 dogs with them varying from a tiny toy poddle to a Irish Wolfhound, in between a couple or three Labs, 3 dobes, 2 rotties, two of three mongrels, a greyhound (who is always I'm told on lead and muzzled) two greyhounds off lead and unmuzzled. Three cockers, 1 springer, 1 Std poodle, and a couple of CKCS. and a BC, oh yes a lovley very elderly JR who is 18 and being carried today due to the weather (it was pouring down on and off all day).

Today was the first time we have been close enough or the right time usually we seem to miss them as I'm either going or just getting there as they drive away. Well today Sal and I came up from the cannal through the long grass and the few remaining daffs, when we almost bumped into them. I must admit with so many I was unsure as Sal can be a bit "in your face - I'm here - who are you?" but she was brilliant - I think she's growing up with pride.

Sal soon sussed out the "players" mainly the labs, springer, all the dobes and one of the rotties, and the younger two cockers. She managed to win the prized frisbee from the rottie dog and charge off over the field followed by the others. Who then won it back and all chased the springer. So it went on. Happiness

Happy non clicky dog walkers and happy well adusted dogs. We will look out for them again work permitting.
Karen (Just wanted to share a happy walk in the rain with my dog.)

You're lucky, we hardly ever see anyone. Only small dogs who get lifted out of the way when they see Star.

Oh we have our share of that - dogs been pulled aways fom that "horrible dangerouse Staff" But I figure their loss not ours.
Shame you are in Glasgow otherwise we could have meet for a walk. Sal has lots of boxer friends - its a sight to behold boxers and staffies playing.

Yeah

Sam is nearby.

We are having some stranger problems with Star at the moment and are attending socialisation and habituation classes, so hopefully she will come out of her shell and be able to mix without getting stressed.

She is OK with other dogs, just a bit too rough.

Isn't that normal with Boxers as with Staffs? Sal plays rough and ready with boxers and other staffs - stand back - but gentler dogs like labs GSD's rotties and spanials she is totally different, and with yorkies - pekes etc different again.
