How Much Blood?

Fimble our 7 year old working black lab collapsed at home this afternoon, pale gums , semi-concious and incontinent of faeces. with in 20 minute she was in vets with a drip up. on further investigation he had a tumor on his spleen that had ruptured. His spleen had been removed and he is still very very poorly . He has lost 1 1/2 litres of blood so the next 24 hours are critical.

Does anyone know how much blood there is in a labrador. I forgot to ask, you know what itslike still numb and trying to take everything in

So sorry to hear the news! I'm really not sure about the blood question, but wishing him well! He's in the best possible place at the moment and they'll do everything they can for him.

Big healing thoughts going Fimble's way!

Oh my goodness i'm so sorry I hope he is ok.

Sorry I don't know how much blood but in relation to a human (about 10 I think?) i'd guess about 7?

ETA: Pints i'm talking not litres

Just been googling and found this site, it's not a lab, but a greyhound, if you scroll down a bit to blood volume and heart function it says in one place 3.4 litres and in another 3 litres, but how this differs from greyhound to lab I have no idea!

How scary for you, I do hope Fimble will be ok.

I'm sorry I have no idea about the blood either but just wanted to send my best wishes for his speedy recovery.
