There are a number of people on the board who are experienced in Staffy showing - myself included
What exactly are you meant to strip? As already mentioned staffys are very shorthaired

Can i ask what ringcraft this was by the way?

Can I ask who runs it?
I am concerned you have been offered advice that may affect your dogs coat

the ringcraft is run by nancy booth
i was told that i had to get a comb with a blade between the teeth, but when i went to the pet shop they told me that they couldn't be used on dogs with a short coat, so i didn't bother getting one

You might be best asking Nancy exactly how she does it then
How old is your dog by the way and how thick is his coat compared to others?
Good luck

Another thing to be aware of is that when wire coated breeds are handstripped only the dead coat is stripped out, so it isn't painful. However if you are stripping a dog the moults the dead hair naturally, like a staffy, then chances are you will be stripping out hair that is healthy "not ready" and this will be painful for the dog.

Also, what does your dog's breeder recommend. If they are reputable, then they should be able to advise you best and I would go with what they recommend .

the only time ive seen this comb with blade used was to trim a staffys tail for showing ,surely that must be what they were on about.
