Well I better pack my bags now if only "true" Brits are to live in the UK, but then it won't leave many people in the UK.

Anyone who isn't a "true" Brit obviously won't be staying, so will the last one out switch the lights off

I have no problem with a persons beliefs or their skin colour (or in my case lack of it! haha) but I do have an issue with simple things that any individual needs to get by in day to day life.
Such things include speaking the native language. This is needed everyday you are out of your circle, this includes children at school. How many people went to school where the majority of the class didn't speak English. I am not just talking about as a second language, but not knowing more than a few simple words.
Teachers and teaching assistants spend so much of their day ignoring the English speaking children to work with the non-English speaking to get them up to some sort of okayish level. I work at a CofE school and all of our children speak English. Some speak 2 other languages as well, but by heck they can speak English and I think that is fantastic. We are talking about a 4 year old who speaks 3 languages fluently and who's parents are working, paying tax and taking part in the British culture and encouraging their child to.
My nephews on the other hand attend a school which is about 75% if not more none British origin. Over 50% of these do no speak more than a few simple words or at a push a phrase or two of English when they start school. As such both of my nephews are far behind the average of the children of the same age who attend the school I work at. They do however know how to swear in a few languages and ask for simple things at their friends houses.
And this is just one aspect.
Then their is jobs and housing, we already have so many unemployed and homeless why add more people to the country. Then we have benefits and tax evasion.
Then we can add the things we can't do because it is Christian and not everyone here is, but heck why not take the whole school to see a mosque. Seriously, my nephews school wanted to do a trip to the church for a Christmas scene, but it was cancelled because the parents didn't want their children to go or to miss out. But half a term earlier they went to a mosque and all was perfectly fine. Great for other kids to learn about different cultures and be accepting of all.
Then there was the point that my sisters high school had a big thing about Eid, and the whole school were expected to take part and learn. But then at Christmas time they weren't allowed to exchange cards on school grounds or have any Christmas decorations, including a Christmas tree. I found this seriously strange, as her school is majority British origin. Yeah okay so it is probably 40-50% but it makes up the largest portion of just one culture.

Anyway that post it mega long and if you got to the bottom of it you are probably wondering what my point is. Simply if you want to come here then that is fine by me, once we have the country running smoothly and coming out of debt rather than digging further in, and if you tolerate our culture and don't insist on changing it.
Seriously at a nursery I worked at we were banned from singing bah bah black sheep, as it was racist. Who came up with that daft idea. Stupid thing is it was probably a white guy sat in a chair going, 'well it says black, lets ban it!'. And on that slightly racist note I shall bid you goodnight.

I actually have no problem with a melting pot although maybe we all have a different interpretation of what that is. I've always thought of the East End of London as a melting pot. People in this area used to accept their differences and get along just fine and yet 40 odd years on they seem unable to do that for whatever reason. I dunno and it may well be a christian country which I acknowledge but I'm not a christian and I have no problem with anyone practicing whatever religion they choose . I don't even know what a true Brit is and consider myself English anyway.

Interesting, so only "foreigners" who are "non Christian" defraud the public purse & cannot speak the Queen's English properly, I hate to disillusion you but in my past life as a Fraud investigator country of origin/race/religion didn't come into it. The vast majority of offenders were born & bred English(as I was based in England)white people who would I presume thought of themselves as Christians as well.

I, as a non Christian, dual nationality, was frequently on the end of obscene language & unintelligible comments from criminals who had never been outside of England. I frequently couldn't understand what they were saying & they had a definite lack of the "Queen's English"

Proud of my heritage? What heritage? I'm a person. I believe what I believe and I was born a black person in America. I'm an Atheist. Am I proud of that? No, I just am one.

I cannot change my race and I did not ask for it. I also cannot move right now, don't have the money. Nothing I asked for, nothing to be proud of. Pride is often a big problem in society.

How a person can be proud of their skin color or other things they did not choose is beyond me. Do I like being black? As much as I'd like being any other race, I'd suppose. Do I like being American? Probably as much as I'd like being from the UK. I mean there's nothing there IMO.

A melting pot is not only religion, but race and nationality... as well. I'm a black person (I don't CLAIM to be a minority, I am) and saying you don't want a melting pot is saying you don't want black people there, so needless to say... I'm not so fond of that statement.

I hold nothing against you for your beliefs Nippy, I suppose I simply do not agree.

This is very worrying and the full weight of the law should be brought to those responsible. To say you should continue to walk your dog in such an area may well lead to a confrontation and possibly put yourself in harms way. Caution applies here.

As regards mjfromga's remark that "you do not own a nation", well I must disagree there.
I consider myself English, I can trace my family tree back 1000 years in the county of Cheshire. My DNA tells me I am originally Etruscan and part of the Army of the Roman Empire who settled England 2000 years ago. My family have fought in various wars across this period to prevent England from being invaded by foreign hordes.

Offshoots of my family settled in the USA, one signed the Declaration of Independence for New Jersey, another conquered California in 1846, and you tell me I have no right to decide who should live here? WRONG.

This is why our recent EU vote by the electorate showed an overwhelming desire from ordinary English people that we want our government to control our borders and decide, in a non racist way, who comes to live here, based on merit. Much as the Australians do with their immigration points system. People from other nations and cultures should want to integrate into the British way of life, not separate from it.

This sign stating that English people should stay out of "Islamic Areas" is an insult to the indigenous people of these islands and should be torn to shreds.

I'm with you Myra & the "Little Englanders" who claim to own this country are the worst type of bigots.

Humans have inhabited these islands for over 10,000 years not 1,000 years, no one "owns" the country in which they live, they are custodians of the land we are lucky enough to live in.

No matter where we originate from we are all members of one race-the Human Race.

I sometimes think that religion & politics are the curse of our global race. Too many people hate others because they were born in a different place, are a different colour/culture/religion/political party.

My late father, who was active in WWII, once said to me that Hitler wasn't evil just badly advised-I was astounded, but really I shouldn't have been, both my parents were racist, they claimed to be Socialists, yet really hated non white, non main stream Christians & in particular Middle Eastern people.

I & my brother fortunately have not inherited our parents illogical unfounded hatred for fellow humans, my brother is now a devout Christian & I have practice no religion at all. My so called "Christian" parents never went to normal church services, never expressed true "Christian" thoughts or feelings

It is not a fact that Muslims don't like dogs. I highly doubt that Muslims would have written that sign as it generalizes their entire religion. To me, the sign almost had to have been written by people opposing Muslims trying to make them look bad. Makes no sense the other way around.
Sadly you could not be so wrong, it does make sense the other way round.

Muslims do not keep dogs as pets (or at least many many don`t) you may see the odd one here and there but as a rule they class dogs as "unclean" we have had cases in this country where they refuse to allow (guide dogs ) them in taxis due to them being unclean, you never see a Muslim with a dog, those you do will be stereotypical young men with status dogs.

You may not believe it mjfromga but this sort of thing is happening all over our Country, more and more no go areas which extreme Muslims are trying to inflict on the rest of the population.

You don`t live here and its easy for you to voice a disbelief, but for those of us who do see it day in and day out, yes its believable......

Our recent elections are proving we have had enough, the governing bodies have had a huge shake up, and maybe now they will have to start to listen to the population of GB .

Up till a few years ago I used to put back packs on the girls and we used to go off to the local market a couple of times a week. I have had to stop doing this. Why?? Because of women dressed in all enveloping black, usually pushing a child with several more underfoot, screaming and dragging their children away from me. Or stopping and running in the opposite direction. All very exagerated and guaranteed to focus as much attention as possible on me walking my dogs where I have done for years, as if I have committed some major crime or the girls have done them some harm
I absolutely hate myself for 'giving in' but I really can't be doing with it, and eventually I would have snapped. I would, of course, be the one to blame in that eventuality, there is nothing to protect me against these insane posturings, just as there is nothing to protect people calling into the off licence to buy a bottle of wine, and being accosted and told they will die 1,000 deaths. Interesting isn't it that lots of off licences are actually owned and staffed by muslims, how does that work then. They're allowed to sell it and make a profit, but no ones allowed to buy it?
