My hens

We started keeping hens in December this year (in the midst of -15 temperatures!) We have 6 hens - 2 Hi Lines (ex commercial layers) - Ginger and Babs, 2 RIRs - Poppy and Mrs McCluckskey (dont ask!) and 1 Australorp x Black Rock - Olive and 1 Maran x RIR - Attila!

Their walk-in run and grassed area

Attila

Sweet Olive

Doing what they do best...eating!

They began laying on January 15th and to date we have had 140 eggs.

That's a lovely setup you've got for them there! Gorgeous birds too. What do you do with all of those eggs?

Aww thank you, i had always wanted eggs so when we moved out to the country last year my dream came true! The eggs are sold for charity through the local Brownie group - some of the money goes to the Brownie pack and the other is donated to our local dog rescue.

Lovely hens and what a smart set up you have. I started keeping hens about 4 years ago now, and I love it! The eggs are unbeatable!
