We been to wales twice now both times with Alfie and once with Akina.

I was worried about the long drive but they were fine.
We fed them early to avoid car sickness which they did not got. A large water bowl and a old milk carton (washed out of course) filled with water and toys and a few treats on the way.
The motorway services have good grassed areas for walking the dogs.
It is wotht the journey and worry because once you get there every one is dog friendly and most of the shops let you take the dogs in with you. We were in north wales (snowdonia) I dont know if other parts of wales will be this dog friendly.
My 2 loved all the walks so much exploring to do.
I hope this helps.
Have a fab time.

We put Missy on her car harness for every car journey.
God forbid you have an accident, but if they're loose, they are an unguided missile - and it may not only be them who gets hurt.

When we went on holiday, we just did what we did before every car journey- took her for a long walk and then popped her in the car. She settled straight away.
We do stop a few times, even from Essex to Norfolk - that's because unlike my dog, I do not have the bladder of a camel
We always had water and a bowl and put it down on our stops, but she never really drank a lot. She only had a few licks and left it.
We did keep the aircon on throughout the journey.
