hmm not sure they get Meniere's as such but they do get Vestibular Syndrome the symptoms of which I would think are similar.

Thanks so much for your quick reply...you may have just saved my dog. I have just found details about this syndrome and it's identical to what my dog has..my vet thought it was a stroke but having read up on it, this appears to be more like it. Your a star!

My Dads had it and it really is horrible isn't it. He was in hospital for a week...it's a time thing with Meniere's isn't it...but the dizziness is terrible, my dad was up a ladder when it came on him.

It's the most frightening thing that can happen to you, coz your whole world starts spinning and you don't know which way is up!! I was in hospital for a week too, couldn't get out of bed without falling over! The ceiling was spinning at 90 mph and it was all wavy - very, very scarey, I thought my brain had exploded or something!

Hi Helen I could reply so quickly as I too have Meniere's
and knew exactly what symptoms would be shown.
Lisa it is quiet often misleadingly called a stroke.

Poor you Willowish, what a thing to have in common hey! They thought mine was a stroke at first too. Touch wood, I haven't had a bout of it for almost a year now, hope you're ok with yours. I must say it took a very, very long time to get back to normal, and even then it would reappear in a month or so for a week at a time. They told me my brain would have to re-adjust itself to see the World the right way up again every time I moved my head. I can't imagine what it must be like for a dog to have this condition, coz it scared the life out of me, even though I was given all the information about it from the specialists.

Lisa is your dog walking about like he's drunk then? I'm very interested in this

Yes he is and the vet thought of a stroke straight away..he wanted to start doing MRI's and lumber punches. After reading the replies on here I read up on the symptoms of Vestibular syndrome and all of them fit my dog..happy to say today has been his best day and he looks like he is coming through whatever he had...had some blood tests done and they are all normal so it's a case of lots of rest and keeping an eye on him. Thanks to you all for your quick replies
