My Dogs Are Amazing!!

They have been sooo good today!

It was our first day picking up on the pheasants and I was terrified! Worried about me doing something wrong or the dogs doing something wrong and us being banned from shoot days!!

I've no idea what I was worried about!

I had Misty, Blade, Casper, Hamish & Horace for the first 2 drives and Hamish & Blade were especially on fire, my lean mean picking up machines! The others all picked a couple each as well! The best drive of the day for us was the 2nd, I walked off the drive with over 20 birds, picked from bracken, woodland, grass & water!

The 3rd drive was right by my house, so I grabbed Lucy out for the afternoon and she had a nice time out, picking a few here and there. I don't like to ask too much of her, she's no spring chicken and she broke her leg last year, so don't want her to over do it!

I have to say, whilst I know there is always room for improvement with my dogs, they looked spectacular next to one of the other pickers up dogs, her dogs were scrapping over birds, sniffing a stonedead bird then walking away and leaving it on the floor and EATING the birds as well!! All in front of the guns!!! I couldn't believe it!! But never mind, it made my dogs look even better than they actually are!!

I really can't wait till the next shoot day now, I love being able to spend the day with the woofers and know that they are doing what they love!

The most satisfying thing for me is seeing my dogs truly enjoy themselves! They love a good walk, but they love a shoot day even more! Fingers crossed I can go out quite regularly!

I'm itching for next year!! Although Breeze and Moss will only do a handful of days each, one at a time with the other dogs!! Don't want to over face them!

Awh Louie, you can come out with me and mine any time!

It was fab, I'm not sure what I love more, picking up with the dogs or my ponies!!
