Japanese Tosa dog owner sentenced

A dog owner, whose pet avoided being destroyed after a neighbour reported it attacked her dog, has been sentenced to a community order.

Anthony Matacchieri, 39, from Huntingdon, was found guilty of possessing an illegal breed after police impounded what they believed was a Japanese Tosa-type.

Huntingdon magistrates heard there was no evidence an attack took place.

Matacchieri can keep his dog, but has to pay Ł4,795 kennel costs.

He was given a 12-month community order, including 100 hours of community service.

Doesn't look like a Tosa, they've always looked like this to me: http://www.tosabrasil.com/KIKKAWA/Tosa-Inu_en.html

Agree, Azz. What's with that sloppy face? Looks like a French Mastiff mixed with perhaps Boxer or Ridgeback to me. I don't think he is a Tosa.

Now reading the entire article, he was labeled a Tosa type by the court even though the owners said he was a generic mastiff mix. His head and mouth are really not conformed how I am used to seeing Tosa's. Almost looks underbitten, a trait that should never be found in this breed.
