Bread Makers

C'mon then, lets be having your recommendations..

Obviously I would prefer to make my own from scratch and often do, but it is too time consuming, I am making soup today for lunch, and would love to make bread to go with it, I should have gotten up EARLIER!!!!

I have been considering a breadmaker for a while, now I have some funds from jewelry sales, I want to buy one for myself!

So, anyone got one? recommend one? or not?

I've never used one - what does the bread maker do exactly? Mix the dough or cook it as well?

I use my normal food processor with the dough blade to mix the dough.

I make Sourdough bread tho, which takes a lot more prep...

Dead simple chuck all ingredients in set timer n bob's your uncle
Mine came with an excellent cook book which I've never deviated from
Edit to add had it a good number of years now so expect the newer models are even better

I've always wanted to make my own sourdough bread, but isn't it quite difficult to make the first batch of dough from scratch?

I've never used a bread maker and wouldn't know how to use one or what it actually does
The way I learnt to make bread is with what we called 'wrist times Pi', basically follwing a simple basic recipe and adding and changing things depending on what you've got.
For me that means: flour, water, salt and yeast. Add what u like lol

Thanks Norma the Panasonic is the one I was looking at, my parents have a Panasonic and LOVE it to!

So pretty much that has made up my mind.!

Azz I think you just put all the ingredients in it, press the button and wait whilst it does all the hard work for you..

I do make my own bread now from scratch, but TBH I am feeling lazy! I like the idea of putting all the ingredients in and voila - my loaf appears!!

My Panasonic SD2500 has all the ingredients in it, and is on the timer so that I will wake up tomorrow morning to the smell of baking bread!

I use it nearly every day. I used to make bread the 'proper' way, but it was too time consuming.

I haven't bought a loaf since buying the breadmaker.

Oh, and the fruit loaf is gorgeous!

My son had a breadmaker and didn't like it so he put it on eBay. Described it thus:

State of the Art Kenwood bread maker:
She likes brown bread, I like white bread, let's call the whole thing off. Even has facility for putting stuff like sultanas in if you want to ruin your bread.

Someone came round within hours and bought it!
