Mika - DOB 21/1/11, Male, Lurcher

Mika Bedlington Lurcher DOB 21.01.11 Chessington Kenns

Mika needs a supportive family to offer time and tolerance to allow their new dog to settle. Mika deserves an experience terrier or lurcher family behind him to offer him scope and opportunity to achieve socialisation outside wearing his whippet muzzle will facilitate his novice overtures. Exit management to avoid front door or back gate opportunist escape as with any terrier. Only pet status. NB Our Rescue asks owners to maintain dogs on lead in public spaces and manage encounters, as dog law changes place dog's lives at greater risk.

Known background: Mika loved by his family, got out of the garden when rubbish was being put out, and rushed over to a postman, The postman tried to kick him away and Mika bit his shoe. Mika's family were ordered to give him up by the Housing Ass. We agreed to take him in as soon as a kennel was available. Mika is neutered, chipped and fully vaccinated. Mika is currently in boarding kennels near Chessington.

About Mika: Mika has such puppy energy coming from his terrier genetics but gives him a feel of eternal youth. Mika wants to engage and gets excited meeting people and dogs, needs minimal management and has successfully danced for many a kennel maid and volunteer entering his kennel to offer him a walk. Only attempt to snap has been within the vets when approached with a needle. We use a loose muzzle for his walks if in public. Mika is safe within the home once he has danced for returners and visitors! Mika loves people and just needs a little understanding and ofcourse exit management to avoid his exuberance to be misunderstood.

Mika, we believe Bedlington Terrier x Whippet may be his closer cousins than the Patterdale he was sold as. A glossy wavy luxuriant coat is amazing. Mika was only ever walked on a short lead when out and about: On a loose muzzle he will enjoy the full extender or training line and quench his thirst to learn to play and interact with other receptive dog. Novice so will enjoy further social scope. Mika had a Staffie and Jack Russell friends visit. In confident hands Mika will excell.
