Is this expensive?

Hi i took my Akita to the vets for a booster jab a couple of days ago,the vet said if she hadnt been wormed it'd probably be a good idea which i thought is fair enough.

She had a booster and gave me a couple of worming tablets and the cost was £38.

I dont mind spending money on my dog but this seems pretty expensive as I thought booster jabs were tops £15,so worming tablets for over £20 seems over the top.

Does this sound expensive? Thanks

Didn't you get an itemised receipt, mine always includes an annual health check which cost about £25 then the booster around £16, then the worming tablets about £5 each etc....

For the overall consultation £38 doesn't sound expensive as I pay £39.95 for boosters, and £3.17 per worming tablet, which Max has two of.

I doubt you've paid over £20 for worming tablets as that would be ridiculous , you may find that there was a consultation charge involved aswell - contact or go into the vets and ask them for an itemised bill

I pay more than that I would say that is a very reasonable price

Sounds reasonable to me for a large dog, I pay the same for my Elks. Although if I take them together I get a 'bulk buy' discount.

Costs nearly that just for the consultation, then about another £30 for the booster!

If you're going for boosters at our vet you don't get charged a consultation fee, just the cost of the booster, but even so £38 sounds about right for injection and wormer

It cost me exactly the same for Mo's booster and wormers and it sounds like we are getting it cheap.

I paid £20 for Noah's microchipping and £30 for 6months flea treatment and about £10 for two worming tablets. At first i thought that was expensive (it is'nt) but once i had the itemized bill it all added up.
