Feeding before/after agility - how long should the gap be?

Hey guys

We've started agility last monday.

Now I know you arent supposed to be feeding the dog just around that time.. But how long before and after training should I wait?

And how do I just come around it.. I mean today is no problem as I have holidays..

But how do I give her dinner on the other mondays???

We train from 7.15 to 8.15 pm... I'm home from work at 4 pm and is taking her out for a walk...

And I ought to be in bed by no later than 11 pm (10.30 would be better) as I'm up at 5 am the next morning...

Shall I "just" not give her dinner on mondays? its only untill the 2. of october, then we will start training on sunday afternoons instead...

She's fed 2 times a day

If you are feeding her twice a day feed her when you get up, if you are using food to train the agility use her 2nd meal as the treats. If not feed her about a hour after you get in just to give her chance to have a rest or sleep.

Finn's training classes are at 8pm so I dont feed him til I get home at around 9.30ish. I just give him a few biscuits at around 5pm. He works better on an empty stomach.

Hi Caz

Yea I've always been told to train on an empty stomach, but Luna is an absolute nutter and we get nowhere if she hasnt been fed, just an ickle bit...

But we'll try not feeding her today and see how it goes

This was only our second time, but she did really good

I just cant have treats in my hand while we run the course, cos she wont focus on anything else than my hand...

But apart from that.. she's doing great

The jumps arent very high yet....
