Hi Karen,

I too am a big fan of all SBT types from KC to game bred Irish lines, i have always had them in my family going back yrs & yrs.
Personally now i own an AB.
I also enjoy going to almost all dog events to give support even if i cannot take my dog or participate.
I will be going to a Bull Breed Show in Bournemouth on the 10th so unfortunately won't be going to peterborough the day before.
As i said my cousin has IKC reg SBT that compete in agility and excell in it ,OB to.
I am not trying to get into an arguement about which type of SBT is better. I only stated that IMO the Irish type are more athletic and better suited to agility.
I saw KC reg and Irish type SBT at Crufts doing agility both were excellent my cousin helped train 2 of those dogs.
I hope that you and all that go have a great day and promote this breed in a new way.IMO SBT are good at most things they do if trained correctly they really love to please on the whole!
As i said b4 i dont understand why this is just a KC event is it being run by them?

Staffy,

Ed-Reid set up and runs the IKC. A true dog man responsible for breeding alot of Gr Ch and Ch APBT b4 there ban, He now breeds athletic type SBT and ISBT.
Heres a link to his sitehttp://www.edreid.co.uk/about%20us.htm

Please don't get me wrong i love the show type KC SBT. But take a look at old photo's of this breed from the 1900's1920's30' they don't look like the show type KC SBT of today. The IKC type or Athletic type look almost identical to these old dogs.
Here's a few links to some of my fave staff sites with imo great athletic dogs

I hope this explains what the IKC is all about and trying to do.
Thanks,
Jon.

Thanx Jon.

I like the look of the early 1900's dogs too. It's amazing how the breed has changed over the years. Still a stunning breed mind. Gonna look at the links now.

Pitbulls are banned in this Country and some people try to sell them off as Irish Staffs (because the puppies look so similar) to avoid being caught by the law.

The only way to get a 'real' ISBT is to get one from a respected breeder, search around forums like this one and when you find someone who has an ISBT ask them who they would recommend. Do lots of reading and only purchase a dog once you know you have enough info, because like you said, you do not want to end up with a pit - which would get taken from you and destroyed.
