I would never own, or want to own, a pet rat. I don't mind them, and some are even quite cute, but they just don't "do" it for me.

I've had rats in the past and would love to again, but unfortunately both my cats and one of my dogs are avid ratters and intellegent enough to get into cages (well the cats are, not sure about the dog) so i won't risk it.

i currently own 2 female ratties, hilary and jess.

fantastic animals in my opinion but i know they are not everyones cup of tea.

was out with hilary yesterday and was actually quite surprised most people who spoke to me wanted to pet her with only 2 who freaked out a bit

please elaborate on your poll answer
Can't vote as I used to have Hooded Rats when I was much much younger & still love them. haven't time to own any now as they do need a lot of interaction & having 6/7 dogs I wouldn't be able to do them justice !

I used to own three and loved having them, but my now husband had different ideas! When the last one past away he put his foot down.( So he thinks). Oh well at least he brings me dogs home.

Wow Muddiwarx, 51 now! I remember when you only had a couple!

I had rats for 3 years, I had 10 over that time. Loved them all dearly, fabulous pets, I hated watching them die though, almost all died of cancer. I couldn't handle it anymore. I think if I have kids and they want a pet for themselves, I'd allow them to have a couple of rats, they're brilliant pets

I voted 1

I have 2 boys now, Jack and James, although i'm not sure I will ALWAYS have rats, I will PROBABLY have more when these 2 are gone but it just depends on my lifestyle at that time, hopefully these 2 will be around for a few more years yet though so I won't have to make that choice anytime soon!

LOL mine are also know as 'the fat rats', 'fatty fatty fat rats' e.t.c. They aren't even particularly fat they have just doubled in size since I got them at about 6-9 months of age lol!

I couldn't vote as you don't have an option for have had them but not anymore

I haven't had rats for about 10 years but I used to have 3 of them and they were fabulous. I don't have the time to keep them anymore and no one in the house likes them apart from me anyway

I own 2 hunting breed dogs. I think keeping any small furries would end in tears.
