No bake chocolate squares

275g dark chocolate
175g butter
4tbsp golden syrup
25G toasted rice cereal
2tbs dark rum (optional)175g plain biscuits such as rich tea
25g chopped walnuts or pecan nuts
100g roughly chopped glace cherries
25g white chocolate to decorate

1. Place the dark chocolate in a large bowl with the butter, syrup and rum<if using, and melt over a large saucepan of gently simmering water, stir until blended.

2. Break the biscuits into small pieces and stir into the chocolate mixture along with the cereal,nuts and cherries.

3. Line an 18cm square cake tinwith baking paper. Pour the mixture into the tin pressing down well with the back of a spoon. Chill for 2 hours.

4. To decorate melt the white chocolate and drizzle over the cake in random patterns. Leave to set.

5. Carefully turn out of the tin and remove the baking paper. Cut into 16 squares

yes Wiggle ...this recipe tastes good and children love it ...for some unknown reason it is refered to in boarding schools as 'dead dog'
