How can I stop my hoover smelling of dog?

Hi

I have a washable filter on my hoover which I regularly rinse out etc - but it still stinks of dog when I hoover - is there anything I can use to clean it or put in the hoover ( bagless) to make it smell better ??

thanks
dani

You can buy those vacuum airfreshners from the supermarket and just pop them in the wotsit (can't remember what its called that you empty ) I use them sometimes when I can remember to buy them - think they are made by airwick and in a green packet which contains 3 sachets - although I think they only come in one flavour - lily of the valley, but its okay.

i thought that was only for hoovers with bags in them - mine doesnt have a bag - do you just chuck it in the bit that collects all the dust ??

Shake and vac, although it isn't good for doggy noses. You can get a freshener for bagless hoovers tho my mum uses them

You can impregnate a little piece of cloth with some essential oil you like & pop it inside

Lol you beat me to it - I use a piece of tissue with a few drops of essential oils and drop this in the bit that collects the dust or put a little bit on the filter itself.

In my vaccum with a bag I put it in the bag.

One of my dogs is allergic to Shake & Vac, so I have to use that sparingly.

My vacuum cleaner is bagless and I just pop the sachet in the drum thingy and it smells great when the cleaner is on
